Oh man there's so many aspects here working in your favor.

The web design itself is perfect in getting it's message across. The source is very clean and I <3 the ASCII art comment at the top.

My only recommendation would be to drop the splash with the English / Italian choice. Instead you should have either PHP or Javascript check the language and redirect the person automatically to the right language. Every study on splash pages in webdesign shows that you get more visitors that actually reach the content by almost double if you don't have one.
